If you love glitzy novels and the movies, plan a stop in Santa Barbara on Saturday. Jackie Collins, the glamorous and prolific author whose books sell in the millions, will be at the Santa Barbara Borders Books, 900 State St., to sign her new novel “Thrill” at 11 a.m. Collins has just signed with Pocket Books to write “L.A. Connection” a four-part novel with each title, “Power,” “Obsession,” “Murder” and “Revenge,” to be released monthly beginning in September.

After you’ve had your Jackie Collins fix, stroll up to the Earthling Bookshop, 1137 State St., at 2 p.m. Saturday to meet Charles Champlin, a juror and presenter at this year’s Santa Barbara Film Festival. The former arts editor and principal film critic for the Los Angeles Times will discuss his book about films of the 1970s, “Hollywood’s Revolutionary Decade,” published by John Daniel & Co. of Santa Barbara.

Investigator Leo Waterman solves a quirky crime in G.M. Ford’s fourth novel, “Slow Burn,” which he will sign at noon today, and Dianne Pugh signs “Foolproof,” an Iris Thorne mystery at noon Saturday, at Mysteries to Die For, 2940 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

The last storytelling session about the life and art of Grandma Moses will be presented by columnist-storyteller Jim Woodard at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, near Simi Valley. Call 658-6697.

The three chapters of Small Publishers Artists & Writers Network have scheduled a series of seminars this week. The Santa Barbara chapter will co-host filmmaker Kim Eveleth and Kuo-ch’ing Tu, poet and professor of East Asian Languages at UCSB, who will screen the award-winning film, “Where Confucius Meets the New Wave,” a documentary about the performing arts in Taiwan.
