Celebrity Roast to Honor Rancher

Dorcas Thille, a prominent Ventura County rancher, will be honored at a celebrity roast to benefit the Santa Paula Boys & Girls Club on June 5.

Speakers include retired Superior Court Judge Robert Soares and rancher Carolyn Leavens. Santa Paula City Atty. Phil Romney will be the master of ceremonies.

Thille owns and runs farms in Santa Paula, Somis and Camarillo totaling 280 acres. They produce avocados, lemons, lima beans, lettuce, marigolds and squash seed.

Thille, who was born and raised in Santa Paula, married Saticoy rancher Charles Kimball. After his death, she married Ventura County rancher John Kelly Thille and settled back in Santa Paula. She began her farming career in earnest upon the death of her second husband. She was also raising six children--Gordon, Ann and Margaret Kimball, and Nicholas, Peter and Robert Thille.

Thille is on the boards of directors of Calavo Growers of California and Saticoy Lemon Assn. and is on the President’s Advisory Commission for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of California.
