Disney Adding Restaurant to Edison Field

Disney is building a third restaurant at Edison Field, restoring a dining alternative for season-ticket holders who declined to pay for premium seating.

The “Home Plate Club” is scheduled to open June 16 on the club level, essentially in the space occupied by the old stadium club.

“We’ve had an overwhelming response from season-ticket holders that wish to belong to a restaurant or a club,” said Kevin Uhlich, the Angels’ director of stadium operations.

The Diamond Club, the luxury restaurant behind home plate, and the Knothole Club, a casual restaurant on the club level, are open only to those seated in the respective premium areas. The Home Plate Club will provide a restaurant option for all other season-ticket holders, an option lost when Disney closed the old stadium club during ballpark renovations and then introduced premium seats.

Membership will cost $150 per seat per season, according to Angel vice president Ken Wachter, prorated for the current season. The menu and ambience will borrow from the Diamond Club, albeit without a view of the field. The Angels will waive the fee for Knothole Club members preferring to eat in the Home Plate Club, Wachter said.

While some ballparks open members-only restaurants and clubs to the public on non-game days, Wachter said the Angels have no such plans at this time.

Uhlich also said the grand opening for the interactive game area behind right field will be June 30.
