Bryant Resigns as Los Alamitos Baseball Coach
John Bryant has resigned as the Los Alamitos baseball coach to accept an assistant coaching position at Santa Ana College.
“It was tough leaving the kids,” Bryant said. “We have real good group and I enjoyed working with them. I think they will be tremendously successful next year.
“But I had a chance to work with [Santa Ana] Coach Don Snedden, who I believe is one of the best in the county. I’ve always wanted to get to college level and this was an opportunity to do that.”
Bryant coached six years at Los Alamitos, compiling a 59-66-1 record. The Griffins were 9-13-1 this season and 4-8-1 in Sunset League play.
Although Bryant’s teams missed the playoffs the last two seasons, Athletic Director John Barnes said there was no desire by school officials for a coaching change.
“We’re kind of in shock that he’s leaving,” Barnes said. “He could have stayed here a long time; there was lots of support for him.”
