Doctors Recommend Rest for Alvarez’s Bad Shoulder
Doctors on Tuesday recommended a week of rest for Tampa Bay pitcher Wilson Alvarez, who missed his last start because of pain in his left shoulder.
Alvarez underwent an MRI exam and was examined by the team’s medical director, Dr. James Andrews.

The Minnesota Twins put right-hander Bob Tewksbury on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Saturday, because of a sore right shoulder.

The Boston Red Sox put second baseman Mark Lemke on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Joe Hudson from triple-A Pawtucket.
Lemke was bothered by post-concussion syndrome after a basepath collision with catcher Chad Kreuter of the Chicago White Sox on May 19.

Mark Hendrickson, who had brief stints as a center with the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings, signed a minor league contract as a pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The left-hander will report to the Blue Jays minor league camp in Dunedin, Fla., to be assigned.
