Troy Beyer, best known for playing Diahann Carroll’s daughter on “Dynasty,” has made a successful transition to writing and directing. She is the star, writer and director of the new movie “Let’s Talk About Sex,” which opens Friday.

In the Swim: I go swimming with my son, Jordan, who is 10 months old. We swim at home. I only do it on the weekends because during the week I’m busy working and it’s really tough. But during the weekends, I’ll bring his bassinet outside and he’ll sleep. Then we’ll go swimming. He swims in his mommy’s arms.

The Write Stuff: I love to shop, but I try not to go on the weekends because it is a mob scene. My husband will take the baby and visit a friend, so I’ll be free to write. I do a lot of writing on the weekends because the phone is not ringing all day. During the week, it’s crazy. I have an office upstairs in my house. It’s my favorite room. I also like to just read so I’ll catch up on my reading. I love New Age stuff.

Surfing the Web: I like to go into the chat rooms, especially Friday and Saturday nights. It’s always crowded and you meet the most interesting people who sit at home on weekend nights. I go everywhere from the sports room to the lesbian room. I also love to go into the “Lonely Women’s” chat room. You think it would be a lot of lonely women, but it’s a bunch of men trying to [pick up women]. I enjoy watching men trying to pick up women in the chat room.

Homebodies: We like to stay home with the baby and we entertain at the house. We just got a new grill, so we’ll barbecue. We’re really into grilling. We have a satellite dish, so we’ll go and scan the 900 movies available, but the one thing I do definitely watch all the time, without a doubt, is “The X-Files” Sundays at 9 p.m. I am attracted to the mystique of the series.

Rituals: Saturday mornings at 6:30 I go to the Flower Mart downtown and I buy flowers. I love Casablancas and orchids. On Sunday, I go to the Farmer’s Market in Hollywood. I get fresh vegetables and fruits.
