Toast That Catalog

Share

Cookbook lovers have a wealth of bookstores that cater to their every interest. Wine buffs aren’t quite that lucky. It’s rare to find a bookstore that stocks a comprehensive selection of wine books for someone seriously interested in wine. That’s why Kellgren’s Wine Book Catalog is so welcome.

A short browse turns up a number of books I’d like to have in my own library. For sheer good writing on wine: “Passions: The Wines and Travels of Thomas Jefferson” by James M. Gabler, “Vineyard Tales: Reflections on Wine” by Gourmet magazine’s Gerald Asher and Jancis Robinson’s memoir of adventures in the wine trade, “Tasting Pleasure.”

If you want to bone up on specific regions, you can delve into “The Wines of South Africa” by James Seely, “The Wines of Alsace” by Tom Stevenson or Jacqueline Friedrich’s marvelous “A Wine and Food Guide to the Loire.” The catalog even has the 15th edition of Australia’s definitive wine guide, “Australian and New Zealand Wine Vintages,” hot off the presses.
