Coming up:

* Gustavo Vargas, a professor of management at Cal State Fullerton, will discuss findings of a major South American economic study Friday at a luncheon meeting of Interam--The Inter-Americas High-Technology Partnership Project. Vargas has completed a two-year study of the economic impact of the new South American free-trade area, Mercosur, and will discuss the free-trade area’s impact on business operations of firms operating in or trading with the region. That includes implications for Orange County firms doing business in South America or planning to, he says. For information about the lunch at the Center Club in Irvine, call the Cal State Fullerton school of business administration and economics at (714) 278-2251.

* The Orange County Business Council will introduce the new Tech Coast Small Business Center at a May 4 breakfast in Irvine. The new center, the only one in the state focused on helping start-up technology businesses, will be in the council’s offices in Irvine. Attendees at the $40-per-person breakfast will receive a book listing resources available to technology entrepreneurs in the Orange County region, says Tim Cooley, executive vice president of the business council. Reservations for the meeting can be made online at https://www.ocbc.org, or by phone at (949) 794-7242.
