Marian L. Werksman; Vision Therapist

Marian L. Werksman, a vision therapist, died Monday at the Thousand Oaks Healthcare Center. She was 80.

She was born Marian Louise Metzger on Oct. 20, 1918, in Aurora, Ill.

After moving to Los Angeles, she met Dr. Irving Werksman and they married in 1961.

They were early settlers of Thousand Oaks, moving there soon after their marriage. She was an early member of the Conejo Valley Historical Society.

She worked in her husband’s Behavioral Vision Therapy office for 35 years.

“She helped people with vision problems, like dyslexia or slow readers, become good students,” her husband said.

He also said his wife, a graduate of Moorpark College, was a history buff and enjoyed political science.

In addition to her husband, Werksman is survived by son William Stoneham of Agoura, stepson Roger Werksman of Los Angeles and stepdaughter Karen Chastain of Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday at Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village, with Rabbi Jerry Fisher officiating.
