Wolf Called Up by Phillies

Randy Wolf, former El Camino Real High left-hander who was two-time City Section player of the year, has been recalled by the Philadelphia Phillies and will make his first major league pitching start Friday against Toronto in Philadelphia.

Wolf, 22, was 4-5 with a 3.61 earned-run average at triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre.

Catcher Jon Schaeffer, who attended Harvard-Westlake and Stanford, has been selected to the Midwest League all-star team for Quad City, a Class-A affiliate of Minnesota. He is batting .279 with six home runs and 26 runs batted in.
