A Grand Celebration to Honor Designing Minds

Share

Just off the presses, the summer Nest magazine will be a gift on every chair at a May 15 party marking designer Tony Duquette’s 85th birthday. The designer and his lavishly eclectic Los Angeles estate, Dawnridge, are the subject of a major Nest feature by Simon Doonan, creative director of Barneys.

“It was serendipity,” said Martin Chapman, curator of Decorative Arts at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, of the magazine’s timing. The event at Union Station will be the first annual Decorative Arts Council gala and fund-raiser, benefiting museum acquisitions.

Union Station will be decorated for the party by Duquette and his business partner Hutton Wilkinson, Chapman said. “This guarantees that the evening will be a Duquette extravaganza.”
