Hueneme 33, Rio Mesa 29--Sophomore quarterback Gordie Pinedo connected with Brad Gibbs on a seven-yard touchdown pass with 3:11 left to play to rally Hueneme (3-4, 1-1) at Rio Mesa (2-5, 0-2).
Holding a 29-15 lead, Rio Mesa drove to Hueneme’s 42. But on fourth-and-three, the Vikings dropped Rio Mesa running back Brandon Ramey for a two-yard loss, setting up a 56-yard, seven-play drive for the game-winning score.
Hueneme had possession for just 13 minutes, running only 35 plays but amassing 346 yards.
