FOCUS: ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY NEWS : LAGUNA BEACH
Feeding squirrels at the park, or anywhere in Laguna Beach, becomes a crime beginning Oct. 7. The City Council recently added squirrels to the list of wild animals not be fed within city limits.
The proliferation of squirrels has led to bluff erosion and increased health risks to residents and tourists, city staff members have determined. The cliff areas at Heisler Park have been damaged due to the large numbers of squirrels burrowing into the ground. Offenders of the ordinance will receive warnings. Repeat offenders will be fined.
