Highland was crowned the winner of the Bishop Gorman tournament in Las Vegas.

The Bulldogs were one of several teams to go 4-0 in the tournament, but they won the tiebreaker by allowing the fewest runs, 13.

In the process, Highland avenged an embarrassing 14-4 loss to El Camino Real earlier in the season.

The Bulldogs defeated the Conquistadores, 5-0, in Las Vegas. Matt Parris pitched a two-hitter and struck out 11, including the last four batters.

“ECR is one of the established baseball programs in Southern California,” said Coach Mike Van Cheri of Highland. “We were really disappointed when we went [to El Camino Real] and didn’t have a good showing. This time, we got some very good pitching and some very good hitting.”
