* Chatsworth-based Chad Therapeutics Inc., a producer and distributor of oxygen-conserving devices and oxygen systems used by pulmonary patients, reported a fiscal first-quarter loss of $720,000, or 7 cents a share, compared with a loss of $154,000, or 2 cents, a year ago. Sales fell 18% to $2.9 million.

* Film Roman Inc., the North Hollywood animator of “The Simpsons” and other programs, reported a second-quarter net loss of $800,260, or 9 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $266,215, or 3 cents, a year ago. Revenue fell to $7.9 million from $15.2 million, primarily because the company delivered significantly fewer episodes of programming.

* Santa Monica-based Fremont General Corp. reported a second-quarter net loss from continuing operations of $270.3 million, or $4.26 per share, compared to net income from continuing operations of $35 million, or 52 cents, a year ago. Revenue rose to $428.3 million from $336.1 million. The company cited losses in its main business, workers’ compensation insurance. Fremont General also entered into a reinsurance agreement with XL Capital Ltd. to cover deficient reserves.

* Teen specialty retailer Hot Topic Inc., based in Industry, reported second-quarter net income of $3.1 million, or 29 cents per share, compared with net income of $1.2 million, 12 cents, a year ago. Sales rose 58% to $51.7 million. Same-store sales increased 21.8%.

* Rexhall Industries Inc., a Lancaster-based motor-home maker, reported net income of $360,000, or 11 cents per share, compared with $1.2 million, or 39 cents, a year ago. Revenue fell to $15.1 million from $21 million. The company cited higher fuel prices, higher interest rates and the bankruptcy of one of its key dealers. Rexhall said it was unknown when, “if at all,” it would be able to replace the lost revenue from the former dealer.
