LAGUNA NIGUEL
Grant money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development will benefit 210 residents who use South Coast YMCA’s child-care and day-camp programs but cannot afford the entire fees.
“It totally helps me,” said Kelly Zuver, a parent who gets about a 50% discount from South Coast YMCA for her daughter’s programs. “I’m a single mom, and it really helps with all my bills.”
The grant money is part of Laguna Niguel’s five-year Community Development Block Grant recently approved by HUD. Eight nonprofit, public-service organizations will receive a total of $46,500. South Coast YMCA will receive $20,000, the largest of the eight grants.
