Broken Water Main Floods 20 Homes in Riverside
A ruptured water main forced families from 20 homes in Riverside Tuesday as up to two feet of water gushed into streets and houses, officials said.
The 12-inch main broke at about 9 p.m. near Bryant Park in the 7700 block of Philbin Street, an official with the city’s Electric and Water Utility said.
Thirty-two people were evacuated; none were injured. Emergency crews shut off the broken main within about an hour, the official said, and all the families were expected to return home by 1 a.m.
