Sargeant, Griffins Surprise Lakewood
Los Alamitos’ Adam Sargeant pitched a three-hitter Friday as the Griffins beat fourth-seeded Lakewood, 4-1, in a Southern Section Division I baseball quarterfinal at Lakewood.
Sargeant (8-3) struck out five for Los Alamitos (19-10). Ron Prettyman, Jerod Ball and Chico Velasquez each had two hits and a run batted in.
Los Alamitos advanced to play Capistrano Valley Tuesday at Blair Field in Long Beach.
