Fullerton’s Johnson an All-American

Cal State Fullerton pitcher Adam Johnson was selected to Collegiate Baseball’s All-American team, which was announced Friday.

Johnson, the Titan career leader in strikeouts, was one of six pitchers named to the first team.

Louisiana State’s Brad Cresse, who played at Marina High, also earned first-team honors at catcher. Cresse has hit 25 home runs this season and is batting .393.

Two other former Orange County players were honored. Pitcher Rik Currier of USC and Capistrano Valley High was named to the second team, and Garrett Atkins of UCLA and University High was a third-team selection at first base.

The all-star team was selected by Collegiate Baseball’s staff.
