GARDEN GROVE
Red is the color this week for Garden Grove Unified School District campuses.
The statewide Red Ribbon Week event will feature classroom lessons, essay and poster contests and other anti-drug programs to promote a healthful lifestyle among students.
At Mitchell Elementary School, red wristbands will be handed out Wednesday, and Friday will be themed “Wear Red Day.”
The cafeteria at O.A. Peters Elementary will serve red-colored food Wednesday, and “Kids for America” will present an anti-drug and safety assembly Friday.
Student officers at Walton Intermediate School will wear black today to represent those who died from drug and alcohol abuse and will hand out stickers.
On Thursday at Louis Lake High School, police officers will display a car that was crashed in a drunk-driving accident.
