Colorado State Suspends Quarterback
Steve Cutlip, Colorado State’s backup quarterback, was suspended for the season, two days before the team’s season opener against rival Colorado.
The suspension came after the Fort Collins Coloradoan and the Denver Rocky Mountain News reported Cutlip was arrested last weekend for allegedly shoplifting $4.49 worth of markers from a local discount store.
A news release from Colorado State said the school could not elaborate on the suspension because of privacy laws.

North Carolina State has suspended four players for its opener against Arkansas State, with three to miss the game for unspecified team infractions.
Coach Chuck Amato announced the suspensions Thursday, saying linebacker William Pannell, defensive tackle Nate Goodson and offensive lineman Alex Rice violated team rules.
The three players were not expected to start in Saturday’s game, but all are key reserves for the Wolfpack.
Tight end Willie Wright also will miss the game. Amato said Wright failed to meet academic obligations and would not be allowed to participate in games until he had done so.
