Coast Magazine Bought by a Division of the Register

Share

A division of the Orange County Register said Friday that it has purchased Coast magazine, a monthly lifestyle periodical based in Corona del Mar, for an undisclosed amount.

Coast, which the Register said has a circulation of 45,000 and annual revenue of nearly $3 million, will become the third magazine the newspaper owns. The others are Golf Extra and Orange County Home.

The Register said that it hopes the acquisition will raise its visibility in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, two of the more affluent areas in Orange County. The newspaper has been trying to build circulation in that area.

Former owners Jim and Nikki Wood will continue in their roles at the magazine. Nikki Wood remains as Coast’s publisher, reporting to Chris Schulz, chief operating officer of the division, OCR Magazines. Jim Wood will contribute editorial content on a monthly basis.

No other staff changes are planned, the Register said.
