Carol Keis; Noted for Work With Actors Alley

Carol Keis, 44, stage actress lauded for her work with Actors Alley Theatre in Los Angeles. A graduate of the University of Texas who earned a master of fine arts degree from CalArts, Keis won the Valley Theatre League’s best supporting actress award in 1995 for her performance in “The Killing of Sister George.” For Actor’s Alley, she also performed in such plays as “Crossing Delancy,” “The Trojan Women,” “Beau Jest” and Neil Simon’s “Jake’s Women.” During the decade she battled cancer, Keis continued acting, incorporating wigs after chemotherapy robbed her of hair and often limping from the pain. Her final performance was last summer in “Three Sisters” at the El Portal Center for the Arts in North Hollywood. Early in her career, Keis appeared in “Slumber Party” with the Road Theatre Company. She worked as a publicist for Hanna-Barbera. On April 9 in Galveston, Texas, of breast cancer.
