Two From Bell Gardens Make National Team

Patty Cardenas and Alexandra Lopez, who as juniors led Bell Gardens to its third consecutive Southern Section Division III girls’ water polo championship in February, have been selected to the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Assn. All-American team for the third time.

Other first-team members from the region are senior Amber Stachowski of Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley and sophomore Gabbie Domanic of Santa Ana Foothill. Stachowski made the team as a sophomore.

Other girls from the region earning honors: sophomore Brittany Hayes of Foothill, junior Kristina Kunkel of Santa Margarita on second team; junior Jennifer D’Anna of Riverside Arlington, sophomore Emily Feher of Foothill, senior Sheetal Narsai of Bell Gardens on third team; junior Lauren Boreta of Santa Barbara, sophomore Erika Figge of Santa Margarita, senior Melissa Madris of Bell Gardens, senior Paloma Slezak of North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, junior Kasey Weaver of Riverside North on fourth team; sophomore Meridith McColl of Capistrano Valley as honorable mention.

Narsai, Figge, Madrid and Slezak were repeat selections.
