First-class dining room. Most guests were French, but owners spoke excellent English.” Rates: Doubles start at about $40.

We stumbled upon this treasure late at night coming from Berlin. Three single rooms, six double rooms, all with private shower and phone. Sumptuous breakfast.” Rates: about $30 single, $45 double.
