2nd Crash in Same Spot, but This Time Not Fatal
A driver lost control of a 1986 Toyota minivan Sunday morning on the Corona del Mar Freeway, sending the vehicle over the guardrail, where it landed on its side, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver and at least three of the six passengers suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to hospitals.
The van was traveling north in the fast lane at 80 to 90 mph about 6:18 a.m. when driver Jose Vasquez, 24, of San Diego lost control near the northbound San Diego Freeway, said CHP Officer A.J. D’aoust.
The van hit the guardrail on the left, shot back across the freeway while spinning clockwise, rolled and jumped the guardrail on the right, he said.
At the same place on Friday, a woman and a 6-year-old boy were killed when their Honda sport utility vehicle went out of control, hit a guardrail and flew off the freeway ramp.
