Latino Art

One of the few regular showcases for Latino art has been the yearly “De Colores” exhibit at the California Oil Museum in Santa Paula. Artist, muralist and Chicano activist Xavier Montes, a Santa Paula native, started the group show in 1994 and it’s still going strong--as will be demonstrated Sunday during a kickoff party for the annual exhibition. Festivities will begin at noon with the Aztec dance group Nahui Ollin performing a blessing dance. At 1 p.m., Montes will introduce the exhibit and special guests. The party will continue until 5 p.m. with more live entertainment, poetry and the respected Latin jazz group the Estrada Brothers.
