Cyclist Hit by Car, Critically Injured

A bicyclist was struck and critically injured Friday night by a car in Costa Mesa, police said.
The man was injured when a 34-year-old driver hit him broadside on Newport Boulevard.
The victim, who was not identified but was described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, was taken to Western Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Saturday.
