Driver Charged With Murder
A Reseda man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase that resulted in the death of a driver in Eagle Rock was charged Friday in Los Angeles with murder and other felonies, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.
William Tanielian, 34, a suspect in about 50 restaurant robberies, fled from police on the Ventura Freeway in Glendale on Wednesday and crashed into another car on Figueroa Street, police said, killing its driver.
Tanielian’s alleged partner in the robberies, Anthony Almandarez, 33, of Reseda, was killed the same day in a gun battle with police in Van Nuys.
Tanielian did not appear in court Friday because he was in the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center. He is being held without bail.
