Coastal Conservancy Turns Over Preserve
The Coastal Conservancy agreed Thursday to transfer its jurisdiction of the historic Point Cabrillo Light Station to California State Parks.
In addition to the lighthouse, the 300-acre Point Cabrillo Preserve, just north of Mendocino, includes wildlife habitats and archeological sites.
“We are very pleased that California State Parks is now able to take an active role in managing Point Cabrillo and continuing the restoration of the light station,” said state Sen. Wes Chesbro (D-Arcata), a member of the conservancy’s legislative board.
