Knight Is Off to a 2-0 Start
Texas Tech should start clearing room in the trophy case for the Bob Knight era.
Andy Ellis had 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Andre Emmett scored 18 points to lead Texas Tech past San Diego State, 81-71, Saturday night in the final of the Red Raider Classic. The win gave Knight his first trophy as Texas Tech coach in his second game.
Knight didn’t stick around to collect it, though. He shook hands with Aztec Coach Steve Fisher and headed to the locker room.
The Red Raiders (2-0) let a 19-point lead dwindle to 76-71 with 46 seconds to play.
But the Aztecs (1-1) couldn’t finish the comeback as Texas Tech played keep-away with passes until getting fouled.
