State of Union: Union, the new project from Geoffrey’s owner Jeff Peterson, has opened for lunch and brunch. Chef James Grey’s lunch menu looks like his American dinner menu with the addition of lunch items like grilled Cheddar sandwich with tomato and grilled onions ($10.50), four-cheese quiche with corn and asparagus ($12) and spicy shrimp pizza ($13). Union is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Brunch looks like lunch with the addition of dishes like shirred eggs baked with spinach and Gruyere ($8.50) and buttermilk pecan coffeecake ($3.50). It’s served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

Michelin Revisited: Jean Francois Meteigner of La Cachette has rounded up five other chefs who have worked at three-star restaurants to benefit a charity originally established for the late Jean-Louis Palladin: Ludovic Lefebvre (L’Orangerie), Suzanne Goin (Lucques), Patrick Jamon (the Regency Club), Peter Roelant (Cafe Four Oaks) and Yvan Valentin (Sweet Temptations).

Dishes will include L’Archestrate’s roasted squab, truffle-crusted lamb to honor Girardet Restaurant and fruit millefeuille from Les Freres Troisgros. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. Wine or Champagne will be served with each course. The price is $180 plus tax and tip per person.

Mario Batali Dinner: The TV chef visits Campanile to cook with chef-owner Mark Peel on Friday. He’ll be making a six-course menu using dishes from his new book, “The Babbo Cookbook.” Copies will be on hand for signing. The menu, which will be available from 5:30 p.m. on, includes items like duck bresaola with pickled fiddleheads and red onion jam and braised beef short ribs with horseradish gremolata. Dinner costs $95.
