Fat-Cat Legislators Throw Us to the Dogs
While the state legislators were in Hawaii feasting with fat cats (Dec. 9) there was another “portly cat” that received attention (Dec. 10). Sen. Kitty is a feline with exquisite lobbying skills that has been living near the steps of the state Capitol for 13 years. Her life is memorialized in a book by Gov. Gray Davis’ wife.
All of Sen. Kitty’s needs are taken care of. When she was injured, excellent health care was at her beck and call. When threatened with eviction from her three shelters in the shrubs, pressure from state employees prevented this from happening. Unfortunately, the average person does not have access to the upper reaches of the government. It is too bad that the legislators and state officials can’t spend as much time and energy helping the people of the state of California.
