Ex-Candidate Jailed for Lying About Residency
A former South Gate City Council candidate was sentenced to six months in county jail for lying about his residency to qualify for the ballot in a city election.
Richard Mayer also was ordered to 500 hours of community service and five years’ probation by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David S. Wesley. Mayer was convicted earlier this year on seven felony counts, including perjury.
