Kings Strike Up Another Jazz Number

The Utah Jazz looked worn out and woeful as it ended its 23-day road trip against the NBA’s best home team.

Peja Stojakovic scored 19 points to lead six Kings in double figures and Sacramento beat the Jazz, 107-81, Tuesday night, improving to an NBA-best 29-2 at home and ending Utah’s six-game winning streak.

In the final stop of its nine-game road trip caused by the Winter Olympics being held at Salt Lake City, the Jazz was flattened by the Kings for the third time this season. Karl Malone scored only 11 points for the Jazz, which committed a season-high 29 turnovers.

Chris Webber scored 16 points and Vlade Divac had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Kings, who ended a two-game losing streak and improved the NBA’s best record to 41-15.

The Kings have defeated the Jazz by 33, 24 and 26 points this season.

Bobby Jackson scored 17 points in a reserve role for Sacramento, which hasn’t lost three in a row this season.

Seattle 109, Cleveland 89--Gary Payton scored 25 points, Brent Barry finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double and the SuperSonics won their seventh in a row on the road.

Barry had 16 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Wesley Person had 22 points for the Cavaliers, who have lost 14 in a row against Seattle.

Dallas 104, Memphis 91--Michael Finley had 30 points and Raef LaFrentz had 17 at Dallas, and the Mavericks won for the fourth time in five games.

Shane Battier’s 18 points led the Grizzlies, who have lost four in a row and 17 of 20.

Orlando 112, Chicago 97--Tracy McGrady scored 25 points at Chicago and the Magic handed the Bulls their first loss in four games since acquiring Jalen Rose and Travis Best from Indiana.

Mike Miller had 15 points and tied his career best with 10 assists for Orlando, which had a season-high 36 assists.

San Antonio 99, Phoenix 91--Tim Duncan had 29 points and 15 rebounds at San Antonio, and the Spurs ended a two-game losing streak.

Stephon Marbury, who scored a season-high 36 against the Spurs on Sunday, had 35 points and 10 assists.
