Tanzanian Scouts to Be Released to Foster Family
Four Tanzanian teenagers held in an immigration detention center in Harrisburg for eight months after leaving a Boy Scout gathering will be allowed to move in with a foster family, officials said.
Karen Kraushaar, a spokeswoman for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, said the host family lives in the Midwest and speaks the boys’ language, Swahili.
The boys, ages 17 and 16, left an international Boy Scout gathering held near Fredericksburg, Va., in July, saying they wanted to find out how they could stay in the U.S. and get an education. When they saw TV reports of their disappearance, they turned themselves in.
