Thompkins Takes Eisenhower Job
Glenn Thompkins, who led the Rialto Eisenhower football team to a 14-0 record, a Southern Section Division I championship and a No. 2 national ranking in 1993, has been named to replace Tom Hoak as the Eagles’ varsity coach.
Thompkins, 26, is a middle school teacher who served as Hoak’s offensive coordinator the last two seasons. He was the Division I player of the year in 1993, when the Eagles beat Mater Dei, 56-3, in the championship game. Thompkins was a defensive back at UCLA.
Hoak compiled a 181-88-4 record in 24 seasons as a coach, the last 19 at Eisenhower. His Eagle teams won one section title, made the playoffs in 13 of his final 14 seasons and won six Citrus Belt League titles.
