Legally Unemployed
When you read about the L.A. County plan to lay off 5,000 health workers, you can’t help but wonder what is left of the argument to continue engaging illegal immigrants in this country because of the so-called shortage of workers (May 18). It’s a crime to have to lose jobs and money because of this relaxed attitude toward illegal immigration.
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services would not have to face a state and federal cutback if illegal immigration were restricted. This would allow more money in the federal budget for the Americans who have a legitimate right to be here.
