Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies killed a man believed to be linked to a murder in Los Angeles after they pulled him over and he opened fire, officials said Monday.

The deputies had stopped the driver, considered armed and dangerous, about 10:15 p.m. Sunday near Cal State Dominguez Hills, Deputy David Cervantes said.

They ordered the man to stay in the car, but he produced a gun and began firing, Cervantes said. The deputies weren’t injured.
