Teen Sentenced to Prison in Fatal Shooting
A 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 35 years to life in prison Friday for killing a Kennedy High School student last year.
Hector Ramirez of Pacoima pleaded no contest last month to second-degree murder for shooting 16-year-old Ricky Loyd in the head and kicking Loyd in the chest as the victim lay dying.
Deputy Dist. Atty. John Morris said Ramirez apologized to Loyd’s family before he was sentenced in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Ramirez’s getaway driver, Victor Manuel Celis, 19, of Pacoima was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years to life in prison.
