Decision on Firing Police Chief Delayed
From Times Wire Reports
The embattled police chief in this town has three more weeks to build a case for why he shouldn’t be fired. The City Council was poised to send Chief Martin Monica packing on Friday, but decided after a closed hearing to give him until Nov. 8 to present more evidence.
Monica says he is being unfairly targeted because of a child molestation investigation involving Sgt. Henry Pruneda, who is married to a city councilwoman.
City Manager Ken Hubler made similar claims when he was fired by the council last month.
