Attorneys Won’t Seek Venue Shift for Officers
Attorneys for the two Inglewood officers charged in the videotaped beating of a handcuffed teenager said Thursday that they would not seek a change of venue.
Officers Jeremy Morse and Bijan Darvish will be tried at the courthouse near Los Angeles International Airport. Morse is charged with assault under the color of authority, and Darvish is charged with filing a false police report.
Prosecutors want the trial to take place in a courthouse where a substantial number of prospective jurors come from the Inglewood area. The July 6 incident took place at an Inglewood gas station.
Morse and Darvish are scheduled to return to court Oct. 31 for pretrial motions.
