Place for Split Families to Meet Is Reported
North and South Korea agreed to set up a permanent meeting place for family members separated by the division of their peninsula more than half a century ago, reports in South Korea said.
The agreement was reached during three days of talks between the Red Cross chiefs of the two Koreas. No foreign journalists were allowed to cover the meeting at the Diamond Mountain resort on North Korea’s east coast.
But Kim Jong Ro, spokesman for South Korea’s Unification Ministry, said North Korea agreed to build the meeting place at Diamond Mountain.
