10 Killed as Floods Continue; Toll at 30
Ten people, including six children and teenagers, were found dead over the weekend as seasonal floods swept northern Thailand, bringing the death toll to 30, a government statement said.
The bodies of two victims were found Sunday in the Mae Sa Riang district of Mae Hong Son province, 400 miles north of Bangkok, the capital, a Public Health Ministry official said on condition of anonymity.
A flash flood struck a refugee camp in the same district last Monday, leaving at least 16 Myanmar refugees dead and a dozen missing. It was not immediately known whether the victims found Sunday died from the earlier flood.
Mae Hong Son has been the province hit hardest by two weeks of flooding and landslides.
