Protecting pets, not stealing ID
I read “With Identity Theft on the Rise, Protect Yourself on the Road” [Nov. 30] with great interest but was saddened that you specified house- or pet-sitters as a possible source of that theft. As a pet-sitter who has contact with many other pet-sitters, I know we pride ourselves on our trustworthiness and honesty. Our clients entrust us with their most valuable possessions: their homes, their pets. Taking advantage of this trust is beyond most of us.
I feel relatively certain that identity theft rarely begins in someone’s home. More likely, it begins outside the house.
