Accident Injures Man, Sets Fire Along Road
A single-vehicle accident Sunday morning on Laguna Canyon Road touched off a brush fire that was quickly put out, authorities said.
About 10:15 a.m., a minivan crashed into a tree and caught fire just north of the San Joaquin Hills toll road, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Stephen Miller.
The driver, a 28-year-old Buena Park man, was pulled from his vehicle by bystanders, Miller said. The man suffered second-degree burns to his back and head and was airlifted to UCI Medical Center. Miller said about 200 feet of grass along Laguna Canyon Road caught fire and was extinguished by the Laguna Beach Fire Department.
