Hotels need more floors to be smoke-free

Regarding “A Greener Hotel Can Begin With a More Sensitive Guest” [Travel Insider, Sept. 14]: Those were great suggestions. I had not thought of renting a hybrid car and will do so in the future.

Because of my respiratory problems, I wish more hotels included smoke-free floors or buildings. While in Texas last fall, I had difficulty finding motels that understood the term “smoke-free.” Some employees complained to me that hotel managers make every other room smoke-free, which is no use to anyone because of the problem of drifting tobacco smoke.
