Longer Race Might Be Fit for Kings Whisper

A return to six furlongs is what Kings Whisper may need to get back to the winner’s circle after tonight’s seventh, a $5,000 claimer for older Arabians.

Trained by Billy Lewis for owner William Scott, Kings Whisper, a 5-year-old Wiking gelding, has been third, fifth, fourth and fourth in his last four starts at 4 1/2 furlongs, but was an easy winner the last time he ran six furlongs. He scored by 2 1/2 lengths as the even-money favorite Feb. 12.

With regular rider Adolfo Rodriguez moving to Proof Arbi, who is also trained by Lewis, Juan Leyva picks up the mount on Kings Whisper, who will break from the inside post in the field of seven.
