Dino the Dog Gets His Day in Court
A British judge granted clemency to Dino, a dog who had been sentenced to death for biting a woman’s hand, in a case that had gone as far as the European Court of Human Rights.
Dino, a 7-year-old German shepherd, was condemned after he bit a woman who tried to intervene in his fight with her dog in January 2001.
His owners said the incident was out of character and spent tens of thousands of dollars to save him. The judge decided “that this dog isn’t a danger to public safety,” said lawyer Trevor Cooper. Dino has kept his nose clean since the 2001 incident.
