CROSS-COUNTRY

* Brandon Bethke, Lake Forest El Toro: Successfully defended his Division I boys’ title in the Orange County Championships with a course-record time of 14 minutes 30 seconds for three miles at Irvine Regional Park. His performance led El Toro to victory with 80 points in the team competition.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

* Justin Rappel and Brian Flacks, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake: Rappel finished with a game-high four goals and Flacks had three goals, including the game-winner with 52 seconds left in overtime, in a 10-9 nonleague victory over Long Beach Wilson, the three-time Southern Section Division I champion. Wilson defeated Harvard-Westlake, 9-8, in the section final last season.

* Bruce McCunney and Ryan Dutton, Westlake Village Westlake: McCunney had two goals, and Dutton made 12 saves in goal and had three steals as the Warriors won the Oxnard tournament with a 6-4 victory over Malibu.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

* Jessica Damasco and Stacy Goto, Pasadena Poly: Damasco had 10 kills and Goto had 19 assists for the Panthers in a 25-14, 25-15, 25-8 nonleague victory over Los Angeles Windward.
